The walleye fishing is improving each day, with some good action and big fish starting to show up. We're not at peak action yet, but should be close by the end of this week. There have been some fish still relating to shallower rock structure, but most of the action is out in the mud now. Trolling crankbaits or crawler harnesses has been most productive, although fish are also being taken throwing hair jigs and glide baits as well. As we mentioned in last week's report, the walleye fishing will improve dramatically very soon, with late July and August being some of the best times of the year to target these exciting fish!

I still have a few days open during the popular August bite for anyone wanting to enjoy this great action!

The smallmouth bass fishing continues to be great, with some solid action and nice fish on almost every trip lately. Fish are set up in their summer areas and patterns, with some good numbers of bass on both shoreline structure as well as offshore. Popular summer presentations like drop shots and ned rigs  have been very productive, but small swimbaits like 2.8 -3.3in Keitechs remain a great choice as well.

This bite will remain very good for the rest of the summer with good action on both shorelines and  offshore structure as well!

The salmon fishing continues to be great in the Door County area, with some big kings and steelheads being caught almost every day. Action continues to be best around the Sturgeon Bay Bank Reef area, as well as in the northern part of Door County. Depths from 100-150 feet along the edge of the reef have been best for kings, with some nice rainbows being caught out in deeper water.

Perch fishing also continues to be good, with lots of action on both the west and east shores of Green Bay. Deeper mud flats and rock structures are all holding fish, although there are some fish on shallow rock reefs as well. Crawlers and minnows have been the best choice, although we're catching lots of big perch trolling for walleyes as  well.
